HOMOSASSA - The Homosassa Arts, Crafts and Seafood Festival is still several months away, but organizers from the Homosassa Civic Club already are planning a massive fundraiser, in which 11 raffle packages, each worth about $1,000, will be awarded to lucky ticket holders.
Starting Monday, various community nonprofit groups and the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce will begin selling tickets for $2. There are 11 packages, each with a theme such as golf, outdoors, stayover, home and sports.
The outdoors package, for instance, includes two tickets to Lowry Park Zoo and Sunken Gardens, four tickets to Weeki Wachee, 10 bowling games at Neffers Bowling in Homosassa and a variety of other items.
Among the organizations selling the tickets are Nature Coast Young Marines, WXOF-FM 96.3 (the Country Fox) and WXCV-FM 95.3 (Citrus 95), CREST school and the chamber of commerce. Tickets also will be available at the festival.
The 29th annual Homosassa Arts, Crafts and Seafood Festival will be held Nov. 8 and 9 in Old Homosassa.
For each ticket sold, the community group gets to keep $1, with the other dollar going to the Homosassa Civic Club. "And we'll be giving our share back to the community," said Diane Toto, festival chairwoman.
The festival features a juried arts show, a seafood court and arts and crafts.
The drawings for the winning tickets will be Nov. 9 at the festival.
