ACCRA, Ghana - A military plane carrying delegates of Liberian peace talks collapsed on its wheels and skidded across the tarmac as it took off from Ghana on Thursday, officials said.

No one was hurt. The Associated Press, quoting airport workers who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the plane was badly overloaded with goods that delegates and others had bought in Ghana.

The aircraft was carrying 44 crew members and passengers, including government and rebel representatives at the peace talks that just concluded in Ghana after 78 days and chose an interim leader for Liberia, Gyude Bryant. He was not aboard, aide Vivian Wreah said.
