The Hernando Computer Club will have an open house at 7 p.m. today. Displays will include the club's computer lab, building a computer and using digital magic to restore old photos. Registration for September computer classes at the Cares Elfers Center, 4136 Barker Drive, will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Sept. 2. Classes include computer I and II, digital camera, Microsoft Word II and the Internet. For information, call (727) 847-1290.

Charlie Vanderford will discuss how to configure Internet Explorer to prevent advertising or cookies from being placed on your computer at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Greater Tampa Bay PC User Group meeting at the Hillsborough Community College Brandon campus, Building 605, Room BTEC 103. Gunnar Rivas will be offering a series of free computer classes at the Countryside Library, 2741 State Road 580, Clearwater. Sponsored by the Compurunner users group, classes in English start at 10 a.m. and in Spanish at 2 p.m. The classes are: computer basics, Saturday; introduction to Windows, Sept. 6; basics of the Internet, Sept. 20; Internet and e-mail, Sept. 27; introduction to Word, Oct. 4; making your own audio, graphics and video, Oct. 11; introduction to Linux, Oct. 18; and advanced programs, Oct. 25.
