Once again, Indiana Jones makes archaeology fun. Recently named the second-greatest movie hero of all time by the American Film Institute (behind Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird), Indiana Jones finally has a proper video game.
Indiana's adventure this time is to prevent a mind-controlling Chinese artifact known as "The Heart of the Dragon" from falling into the hands of evil Nazis and Asian mobsters in 1930s China.
One of the best features of Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is the use of the environments. For instance, you can be fighting an adversary in a bar with your fists, then pick up a chair and hit him with it. The game also features weapons from the Indiana Jones movies, such as bottles, shovels, guns and, of course, Indy's bullwhip.
The game play is mostly Tomb Raider-style, with a splash of first-person shooter thrown in so it doesn't get boring.
A significant drawback of the PS2 version of this game is that the graphics are not as sharp as in the Xbox version. It also can get annoying trying to jump from platform to platform in certain situations.
Overall, though, the game is worthy of one of the best movie series in history, and well worth playing.
