8. In 1989, Florida beat LSU 16-13 on a final-play, 41-yard field goal in what was Galen Hall's last game as coach (he was fired because the program violated NCAA rules). Who quarterbacked the Gators on the final drive and who made the kick?

RATINGS

20 correct - No, Coach Spurrier, we won't refer to you as a "genius."

16-19 - Among your keepsakes are a "Give 'em Hell Pell" bumper sticker, a shirt that says "Gators 28, National Champions 3" and a set of orange and blue suspenders.

12-15 - Very likely, you didn't start following the team until Spurrier arrived. Now, go read up on Charley Pell like a good little Gator. You can start at the NCAA Hall of Infractions.

Less than 12 - Definitely a fair weather croc.

ANSWERS

1. Duke.

2. Dale Dorminey, a fifth-year senior who was set to make his first start. He was injured during preseason drills and walk-on redshirt freshman Kerwin Bell took over.

3. Donald Douglas, in 1989.

4. Beat Tulane 63-21 in Week 3 of the 1984 season.

5. Beat unbeaten and third-ranked Alabama 24-23 in the SEC Championship Game.

6. Team manager.

7. Eleven.

8. Kyle Morris, who played with a broken finger on his non-throwing (left) hand, was the QB; Tampa native Arden Czyzewski was the kicker. Czyzewski had kicked only one field goal in his Gators career before that game.

9. Wide receiver Chris Doering, a Gainesville native and former walk-on who later finished as the Gators' career leader in TD receptions.

10. The Gators trailed 17-0 in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Kerwin Bell, who had missed the two previous games with a knee injury, came off the bench to direct three scoring drives, including the go-ahead touchdown - a 5-yard pass to Ricky Nattiel - with 36 seconds left. Bell, not known for his fancy footwork, ran for the 2-point conversion. "That was the greatest fourth-quarter comeback I've seen," said Auburn coach Pat Dye.

11. A heavy fog.

12. Alabama. Smith rushed for 224 yards (then a school record) as the unranked Gators upset the No. 11 Crimson Tide 23-14 at Legion Field in Birmingham.

13. Oklahoma State, 50-7.

14. The Gators lost to No. 17 Georgia 24-3.

15. Seven: Southwestern Louisiana (55-21), Georgia Southern (62-14), Kentucky (65-0), LSU (56-13), Auburn (51-10), South Carolina (52-25) and FSU (52-20) in the Sugar Bowl.

16. QB Kerwin Bell and WR Ricky Nattiel.

17. All but once (168).

18. Kentucky at Florida Field, 35-26.

19. For gambling.

20. The Gators beat Maryland 56-23 in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 2, 2002.
