Truck hits school bus, but no kids on board

SPRING HILL - A pickup truck crossed in front of a Hernando County school bus Thursday, causing a collision, school district officials said. There were no students on board the bus at the time of the accident, said Linda Fultz, the district's transportation director. The accident occurred after 6 a.m. when the bus was traveling east on Powell Road in Spring Hill before the driver began picking up children along the route, Fultz said. The pickup truck was traveling west on Powell Road when it attempted to turn left, colliding with the bus, Fultz said. She did not identity the bus driver. The Florida Highway Patrol took a report of the accident but didn't provide details of what happened or the names of the drivers involved.
