HERNANDO BEACH - A 63-year-old Spring Hill man was arrested on Wednesday after he was accused of following two teenagers and soliciting sexual favors from them, authorities said.
The alleged incident occurred when two Nature Coast Technical High School students noticed that a white Lincoln, driven by Floyd Mullenax of Thornberry Drive, followed them after they drove away from school on Aug. 20.
According to a sheriff's report, the teens, ages 16 and 17, attempted to avoid the man by driving west on Cortez Boulevard and north on Sunshine Grove Road. However, the car continued to follow them.
The teenagers, whose names are being withheld because of their ages, then drove to Jenkins Creek Park in Hernando Beach, where they got out of the car they were driving.
"There were several people at the park so they felt safe there," the report said.
There, Mullenax dropped a note out of his car window and motioned for the teenagers to pick it up, the report said.
In the note, Mullenax asked to perform oral sex on the teens and directed them to blow their horn and flash their lights if the answer was yes, the report stated.
After reading the note, the teens reportedly followed Mullenax's car into Hernando Beach Park. But when Mullenax realized that the teens were copying his license plate information, he sped away, ignoring several traffic lights, the report said.
The teens were able to obtain the license plate number of the car and contacted the Sheriff's Office. One week later, Mullenax was taken into custody and charged with stalking.
He posted $5,000 bail and was released.
During the investigation, detectives found that Mullenax has an extensive criminal history, which includes charges for breaking and entering, indecent liberties with a child, lewd and lascivious acts on a child, grand theft, worthless check writing and prostitution.
However, he is not registered in Florida's sexual offender database.
Reached at his home in Spring Hill on Thursday, Mullenax refused to comment on the allegations.
