MIAMI - Derrek Lee hit a three-run homer and Mark Redman ended his three-game losing streak as the Marlins beat the Expos 5-3 on Sunday for their third consecutive victory.
The Marlins won without third baseman Mike Lowell, who is out for the rest of the regular season after he broke his left hand Saturday. They also remained tied with Philadelphia atop the wild-card race.
"We needed some of these guys to pick each other up," Florida manager Jack McKeon said. "Hopefully, we can get five or six of them pounding away at once."
The Expos continue to struggle on the road, falling to 4-17 away from home since the All-Star break.
"It's not one thing. It's a bunch of different things," outfielder Brad Wilkerson said. "If somebody can figure it out, I wish they'd come tell me."
Montreal took a 2-0 lead in the first on Vladimir Guerrero's homer. Lee made it 3-2 in the bottom of the first.
Wilkerson singled with two outs in the fifth and scored on Orlando Cabrera's double to tie it. But Florida took the lead for good in the fifth when Luis Castillo singled and scored on Ivan Rodriguez's double.
Rodriguez moved to third on an error and scored on a single by Brian Banks, who replaced Lowell in the lineup. Banks played leftfield, replacing Miguel Cabrera, who played third.
Late Sunday, Florida got Jeff Conine from Baltimore for minor-league pitchers Denny Bautista and Don Levinski. Conine mostly has played first base this season but has played third.
