Nation: Munson's big day lifts Broncos

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Chad Munson passed for 450 yards and six touchdowns, breaking two school records, as Western Michigan defeated William & Mary 56-24 on Saturday.

Munson, who passed for a career high the second week in a row, threw for touchdowns to five different Broncos. He broke the single-game record for passing held by Tim Lester, who threw for 435 yards against Bowling Green in 1998.

Munson's career day began with a 61-yard touchdown to Greg Jennings, who hauled in two touchdowns for the second consecutive week.

Western Michigan trailed twice early in the game, 7-0 and 14-7, but the Broncos scored four consecutive touchdowns in the second quarter to take control.

Rich Muskinski, William & Mary's all-time leading receiver with 3,381 yards, had eight catches for 101 yards. It was the 17th 100-yard game of his career. He is No.2 on the all-time NCAA list behind Jerry Rice's 23.

Western Michigan's Kendrick Mosley had four catches to extend his reception streak to 32 games, the sixth-longest in the nation.

CENT. MICH. 40, NEW HAMPSHIRE 33: Jerry Seymour ran for 166 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns for the host Chippewas, who rallied from a 23-19 halftime deficit. Seymour had 27 yards at halftime before adding 139 in the second half. The Wildcats trailed by 14 with less than two minutes left when quarterback Mike Granieri connected with David Bailey for a 48-yard touchdown to cut the lead to seven. The Wildcats recovered the ensuing onside kick and drove to the Chippewa 24 before time ran out.

N. ILLINOIS 42, TENN. TECH 17: Michael Turner rushed for 134 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the host Huskies. The Huskies were ahead 21-10 when they took control in the third quarter after two punts that went awry for the Golden Eagles. Devron Francis recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to give the Huskies a 28-14 lead. Later, a failed fake punt attempt by the Golden Eagles gave the Huskies the ball at the Tennessee Tech 24. Two Turner rushes later, the Huskies had a 35-14 lead.

TOLEDO 49, LIBERTY 3: Bruce Gradkowski threw three touchdown passes and Lance Moore scored two touchdowns for the host Rockets. Gradkowski threw second-half touchdown passes of 49 yards and 24 yards to Steve Odom and a 20-yarder to Andrew Clarke in the first quarter. Gradkowski completed 14 of 16 passes for 250 yards and led the team in rushing with 56 yards.

E. WASHINGTON 8, IDAHO 5: Skyler Allen passed for 147 yards and Erik Meyer threw a touchdown pass as the visiting Eagles rallied for the win. Eastern Washington sealed the victory when defensive back Isaiah Trufant batted down a fourth-down pass intended for Wendell Ocatave with just under two minutes remaining.

GA. SOUTHERN 35, SAVANNAH ST. 0: Chaz Williams ran for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead the host Eagles. Georgia Southern, the nation's second-ranked Division I-AA team, scored on its first two possessions.

N. DAKOTA ST. 25, MONTANA 24: Mike Wieser caught a 20-yard touchdown from Rod Malone on a fake field goal with just over two minutes to play for the visiting Bison. Chris Snyder missed a 40-yard field goal as time ran out for the Grizzlies, ranked third in I-AA.
