BENGALS: Jon Kitna was 10-of-17 for 178 yards in the fourth quarter, padding his numbers after the Broncos led 27-3.

BILLS: Sam Adams' interception return for a touchdown was his second and first by a Bills defensive lineman since Pat Toomay in 1975. ... Travis Henry's first touchdown marked the first time the Bills scored a first-quarter touchdown against the Patriots since a 41-17 loss on Dec. 18, 1994.

BRONCOS: Coach Mike Shanahan is 9-2 in openers. ... It was Clinton Portis' ninth 100-yard game. He set a team rookie record with 17 touchdowns last season.

BROWNS: Defensive end Courtney Brown had Cleveland's lone sack. The former No. 1 overall pick had offseason knee surgery.

CHARGERS: The 13-point loss to Kansas City was more than twice the combined margins of victory of the past three games between the teams. Those games were decided by a total of six points: Kansas City's 20-17 and 24-22 victories and San Diego's 35-34 victory.

CHIEFS: Johnnie Morton's catch during the third quarter was his 500th.

COLTS: Edgerrin James had 67 yards rushing, leaving him 20 shy of becoming the fifth back in franchise history to rush for 5,000.

DOLPHINS: Miami is 0-1 for the first time since 1991 and below .500 for the first time since 1996.

JAGUARS: Mark Brunell tied a team record with 13 consecutive completions. ... Matthew Hatchette's 33-yard touchdown reception was his first score since 2000.

PATRIOTS: Before Sunday, New England was last shut out Nov. 28, 1993, by the Jets 6-0.

RAIDERS: Tim Brown caught his 98th pass, leaving him two short of Steve Largent for third all-time.

RAVENS: Linebacker Ray Lewis returned after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury but had only four solo tackles and no sacks.

STEELERS: Amos Zereoue had 56 yards and a touchdown in his first season-opening start. Jerome Bettis, now the backup, had 14 yards on four carries before leaving with a groin injury not believed serious. ... Hines Ward moved into third on the team's career receiving list with 339 catches, one more than Hall-of-Famer Lynn Swann. ... The Steelers won their opener for the first time since 1999. They also won their fifth in a row against Baltimore.

TEXANS: Houston released long snapper Chance Pearce and signed long snapper Bryan Pittman. ... Pro Bowl defensive end Gary Walker was inactive with an injured left shoulder.

TITANS: Before Sunday, punter Craig Hentrich hadn't made a field goal since 1995. He kicked 39 at Notre Dame, second only to John Carney's 51.
