DADE CITY - A 23-year-old woman was charged Wednesday with attacking a man in a drive-by crossbow shooting.
Samantha Lee was facing a charge of aggravated battery after Pasco County sheriff's deputies said she fired an arrow at Michael Sims. Sims, 41, of Trilby was walking west on Lock Street around 1 a.m. Wednesday when a car pulled up and a woman shot him with a pistol crossbow, according to a report with the Sheriff's Office.
The arrow grazed him in the chest, leaving a small cut, but he was otherwise uninjured, the report said. Sims flagged down a sheriff's deputy and gave the following account:
He said a red car had passed him moments earlier. Its passengers had yelled, "We're gonna get you." The car drove by, turned around and came back. When the car slowed down, a woman stuck the crossbow out the window and said, "I told you I was going to get you," and fired. The car sped away on Lock Street before turning south on 14th Street.
After deputies stopped the car, Lee was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail, where she remained Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $10,000 bail. Her arrest record includes convictions for battery and theft.
