NEW PORT RICHEY - A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday night, accused of pushing a female acquaintance and pointing a handgun at her, New Port Richey police reported.
Jose Hernan Pabon of 7108 Whittington Court pushed the victim against a wall, where she fell to the ground, according to the report. He then pulled a chrome handgun from his pants and pointed it at her and dropped it on the ground, the report said.
The gun was loaded, the report said. Pabon told officers he had found it in a bag by State Road 54 and Rowan Road.
The incident happened at the Valu-Lodge at 6523 U.S. 19, where Pabon had a room, Officer Michael Anderson said. Other acquaintances of Pabon and the victim were present, he said.
Pabon was arrested on charges of battery and aggravated assault with a firearm and was taken to a juvenile assessment center.
