Hopalong to your closet for this request

Here's some fun: We get to help with a birthday surprise. Betty Hughes of Clearwater writes that her daughter, who grew up during the 1950s, greatly admired Hopalong Cassidy (played by William Boyd, a cowboy star of big and small screen, whose all-black couture contrasted nicely with his white hair and white horse).

Her daughter lives in Texas, and her heart still belongs to Hoppy, who has evolved from hero to hobby. She has scoured Texas flea markets, antiques shops and garage sales looking for Cassidy memorabilia. But alas! Texas has proved to be a dry hole for Hoppy mementos.

So Mom is hoping that maybe Florida will come through where Texas did not. Betty's daughter will have a birthday soon, and Betty would love to be able to surprise her with a glass, plate, some souvenir of the cowboy hero. If you can further Betty's quest, please call 727 797-1910 or e-mail MartyBetty@webtv.net.

Anna Fouts of Largo needs suggestions about repairing a very old china bowl that has been in the family for many years. It is beautiful, with scalloped edges, and the day something hit it and broke off a small piece, Anna felt her heart break as well. Do you know of someone who might have the expertise to fix it? Anna would love to have that information; call (727) 584-7560.

Andrea Bogolub of Largo has lost the remote control for her VCR, a Sony model SLV-AX10. She cannot program her television without it, and a universal remote does not work. If you can steer Andrea toward a replacement, please call (727) 533-0901.

Nancy Hammond of Brooksville needs a crochet pattern of Snoopy. She has seen those for Mickey and Minnie, and she has also seen the finished Snoopy, stuffed with Polyfil, but she can't seem to locate the pattern that would let her craft her version of the beloved beagle. Please call (352) 597-4581 if you can help.

Nell Spirek of St. Petersburg says that though electric typewriters are passe, she has one, free for the asking. Passe, indeed! Why, just last month we placed a MANUAL typewriter. Welcome to Exchange Land, where all eras overlap. Nell may be reached at 727 526-3533.
