NEW PORT RICHEY - Hudson quarterback Kyle Hatcher understands the best way for an offense to move the ball is to use its biggest weapons. And that means looking to Travis Miller and Tommy Snow as often as possible.
Miller and Snow had all three Cobras touchdowns Friday night as Hudson defeated Ridgewood 21-0 in a non-district matchup at Ram Booster Stadium.
Miller rushed for a game-high 123 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 60. Snow, the other wingback, had 33 on the ground with a 40-yard touchdown reception.
"We look to see what the defense is doing and exploit it with them," Hatcher said. "They are our playmakers."
Hatcher used both on the Cobras' first touchdown. Near the end of the first half, Miller caught a swing pass at the Hudson 20 and ran 46 yards to the Ridgewood 34. Two plays later, Hatcher threw a perfect pass to Snow, who beat two defenders to give the Cobras a 7-0 halftime lead.
Hudson (1-1) added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter with Miller scoring on runs of 11 and 48 yards.
Hatcher, a sophomore, threw for 106 yards on 5 of 10 passing and did not throw an interception for the second consecutive week.
"It's nice to have some speed out there," Cobras coach Terry Voyles, whose team lost five fumbles in a 30-8 loss to River Ridge last week. "It's nice to see what happens when we hold on to the ball. We came together as a team this week. Everyone did a great job."
The Rams (0-2) gained 109 yards total offense and turned the ball over three times. The Cobras held Ridgewood running back Mike Galizia to 22 on eight carries and speedy wide receiver Shannon Eva to three catches for 26.
Brad King and Justin Brown each had sacks for Hudson, and Snow recovered a fumble and made an interception.
