ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia brought an emphatic end to its three years without an offensive touchdown against South Carolina, routing it 31-7 on Saturday.
Reggie Brown caught two short touchdowns and set up a score with a longer reception. Damien Gary finished it with the easiest score of all, scooping up an onside kick and racing 44 yards without being touched.
"Obviously, we had a little extra incentive this year," Bulldogs quarterback David Greene said. "For an offense, it's kind of embarrassing not to score a touchdown. We had a lot to prove."
USC stumbled after a 31-7 upset of Virginia last weekend.
Greene was 16-of-27 for 208 yards, guiding Georgia to its first touchdowns against South Carolina since 2000. The drought breaker was Greene's 2-yard pass to Brown with 3:05 left in the first quarter, ending a streak of 181 minutes, 18 seconds - a span longer than three games.
The Bulldogs drove for a 17-0 halftime lead. Brown hauled in passes of 15 and 21 yards. Greene then hit Brown cutting across the middle on a 5-yard touchdown with 41 seconds left.
Redshirt freshman Michael Cooper, making his first start in place of Tony Milton, rushed for 82 yards on 14 carries, including a 46-yard run and a soaring 2-yard touchdown late in the third. The Greene-to-Brown combination set up that score with a 36-yard reception.
AUBURN 45, VANDERBILT 7: The visiting Tigers snapped their touchdown drought and Jason Campbell threw two touchdowns to Jeris McIntyre.
Auburn scored 17 during the second quarter and was not threatened by the Commodores, who have lost 19 consecutive conference games since November 2000 and 28 of 29.
The Tigers, who had scored only a field goal this season, got a touchdown 2:57 into the second quarter. Campbell found McIntyre on a screen. He broke away from three tacklers and ran it in for a 31-yard score.
On its next possession, Auburn drove 64 yards, capped by Carnell Williams' 3-yard run, to make it 14-0.
LSU 35, W. ILLINOIS 7: Matt Mauck set career highs with 305 yards passing and four touchdowns for the host Tigers. Mauck, 8-1 as a starter, also had a career-high 23 completions in 33 attempts for LSU, which is 3-0 for the first time since 1998.
Down 13-0 at halftime, the Leathernecks recovered an onside kick to open the second half, and Russ Michna hit Terrence Hall on fourth and 3 for a touchdown.
But the Tigers came back with a 59-yard drive, scoring on an 8-yard pass from Mauck to Shyrone Green.
It became 28-7 on Green's 40-yard touchdown catch with 2:26 left in the third.
ALABAMA 27, KENTUCKY 17: Shaud Williams ran for 174 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries for the host Crimson Tide.
The teams traded field goals during the third after Alabama led 10-7 at halftime. But Williams scored a 2-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth for a 20-10 lead.
Brodie Croyle later completed a pass to Brandon Greer on fourth and 6, setting up Williams' 7-yard touchdown with 5:11 left.
MISSISSIPPI 59, LA.-MONROE 14: Eli Manning was 22-of-26 for 353 yards and three touchdowns for the host Rebels. The Indians tied it at 7 when Steven Jyles hit Mack Vincent on a 24-yard touchdown. But Mississippi scored 45 in a row, including on four consecutive possessions during the second half.
