Representatives of 12 companies from the Tampa Bay area will join Gov. Jeb Bush this week on a trade mission to the Dominican Republic.

HC Beck, Construction Business Services, Med Supply of Tampa, Suncoast Roofers Supply, Cooper Nelson & Associates and AR Savage & Sons are among participants in the four-day trip, which begins today. Officials with the Port of Tampa, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce and Pinellas County Economic Development are also going, making the Tampa Bay group one of the largest delegations on the mission.

All told, 219 people representing 133 Florida companies are on the mission.

The Dominican Republic imported nearly $2.4-billion in goods from Florida last year, making it the state's second-largest export market. With a total trade of $4.8-billion, the republic is Florida's third-largest trade partner.
