Hot Ticket: A warm goodbye to a cool tradition

Disney characters skate into the Times Arena at the Bayfront Center for the final time Sunday.

Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey will be the last Disney on Ice production at the arena before it is torn down next year. Besides the classic pair, the show features characters from Lilo & Stitch, The Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians and Peter Pan.

It begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at the arena, 400 First St. S, St. Petersburg. $12-$28. (727) 892-5767 or (727) 892-5700.

Best foot forward to find a cure

Saturday's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the first of about a dozen charity walks this fall to raise medical research funds for diseases that include breast cancer, heart disease, diabetes and ALS.

The Komen event, which benefits breast cancer research, includes a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile fun run, a Kids for the Cure (ages 6 to 12) event, a Tots for the Cure (ages 5 and younger under) event, a Survivor March and festival in the park.

The race begins in Straub Park on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront. Registration is in the park from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 6 to 7 a.m. Saturday. The opening ceremonies begin at 7 Saturday, with the 5K run beginning at 7:30, the walk at 7:45, the 1-mile at 8:45, tots at 9, kids at 9:15 and the Survivor March at 9:30.

Registration is $25 for the 5K, $5 for kids event includes T-shirt. Tots are free (no T-shirt), but all kids must register. (727) 734-7832 or www.komensuncoast.com
