DADE CITY - Pinellas County lawyer Darryl Rouson said Sunday he remains interested in representing Alfredie Steele Jr., the teenager accused of killing a Pasco sheriff's deputy early June 1.
Rouson, president of the St. Petersburg NAACP, had planned to meet with Steele, 19, Sunday at the Sumter County jail.
But Rouson said Steele's mother asked him to delay their meeting. Rouson said he will visit Steele later this week.
Steele is charged with first-degree murder in the sniper-style shooting of Lt. Charles "Bo" Harrison. Lawyers have been preparing for a Nov. 1 trial.
