The Tampa Streetcar System's trolleys of today are replicas of the Birney Safety Cars that were a part of Tampa's daily life from the 1890s through 1946.
However, these cars are better, they are air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible.
A round trip on the trolley, which runs between Ybor City and Franklin Street, takes about an hour and trains run every 15 to 20 minutes.
Visit the Florida Aquarium, the SS American Victory, or shop and have dinner at one of the restaurants at Channelside. See a movie, check out the shops, play video games or dine at Central Ybor.
Two coffee shops, Fort Brooke Park on the waterfront and the St. Pete Times Forum are along the line.
Downtown Tampa, with the Tampa Convention Center, the Tampa Bay History Center and the many restaurants and shops along Franklin Street are within walking distance.
For $9 in quarters people can park for 12 hours in one of several parking lots in Ybor City.
The best bargain is to pay $3 and ride all day, getting off and on as often as you like. Bring change because the conductor accepts only exact fares.
