A 42-year-old Tommytown man was charged with capital sexual battery after a 4-year-old girl accused him of assaulting her.
Everett Stevens, of 37322 Lock St., outside Dade City, was held Thursday in the Land O'Lakes jail without bail. He was arrested Wednesday in the incident, which took place July 5, according to a sheriff's report. The girl said Stevens touched her, the report said, and she was bleeding later that afternoon. Stevens told officials that he spanked the girl and that the improper touching was unintentional.
Man accused of holding knife to clerk's throat
NEW PORT RICHEY - City police arrested a 32-year-old man Thursday on charges of burglarizing a store and later robbing the store's clerk at knifepoint.
Bonnifaci "Sammy" Morales put a large knife up to the throat of a female clerk at the El Valle Del Mesquital store at 6347 Massachusetts Ave., according to a police report.
Then he tied her up in the rear restroom before taking about $400 from the cash register, the report said. The knife, which was left near the cash register, helped lead police to Morales.
The robbery happened Tuesday. Three days before, Morales had burglarized the store and taken $1,144.60 worth of compact disks, phone cards, wallets and belts, police said.
Morales was taken to the county jail. Police said he is a homeless and undocumented alien immigrant and may be deported.
DNA test leads to arrest of 17-year-old in rape case PORT RICHEY - A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in 2002, the Sheriff's Office reported.Manuel Angel Burgos at first had denied having sex with the girl.
The girl, who was not identified, had given deputies the shorts she was wearing Sept. 10, 2002, the day she said Burgos forced himself on her.
DNA on the shorts matched Burgos' DNA, the report said. On Wednesday, he said he had sex with the girl a couple days before the reported rape, the report said.
Burgos of 9236 Whitman Lane was taken to a juvenile assessment center.
