PORT RICHEY - An 89-year-old Port Richey woman died Friday morning after being hit by a car on Regency Park Boulevard.

Margaret W. Moriarty was walking east across Regency Park on her way home from the grocery store about 8:30 a.m. She was hit by a red Ford Escort heading south.

Driving the Escort was Mary T. Strickland, 40, of Port Richey, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers were investigating Friday afternoon, and Strickland had not been charged in the crash.

Born in Queens, N.Y., Moriarty came to Florida 25 years ago, according to an obituary notice from Faupel Funeral Home.
