The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce will have five ribbon cuttings this week:

Heartland of Brooksville, 575 Lamar Ave., Brooksville, will host an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the nursing and rehabilitation center.

The event is to celebrate the center's 15th anniversary and give visitors an opportunity to meet the new administrative team.

Hernando County Commissioner Betty Whitehouse (who is also a registered nurse) will be the keynote speaker. Refreshments will be served. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to 799-2226.

To mark her 20th year in business and in appreciation for the opportunity to serve Hernando County, Ruth Wharton, owner of the Book Fair, 1219 Kass Circle, Spring Hill, will have an anniversary celebration during the week of Oct. 13-18.

During the anniversary celebration week, customers can enter prize drawings. On Oct. 18 the Book Fair will host local authors who will meet and greet customers from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Authors include: Harold Allen, Lillian Winters, Sarah Nachin, Michael Ulman and more.
