Rush Limbaugh's racially insensitive, ESPN comments about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb served at least one useful purpose. It showed viewers that there is a slippery slope from bedrock conservatism to bigotry, and the radical right is riding a bobsled.
His follow-on comment that he must have been right about something he said to create such a stir is Limbaugh logic at its best.
Fortunately, rational people already know that Rush Limbaugh's truth is like tainted moonshine; it makes you feel good all over just before it blinds you. His speedy departure from the fray is but another manifestation of the Limbaugh hit-and-run charm.
