LITHIA - National home builder KB Home entered the Tampa market last October as part of a growth strategy aimed at the southeastern United States. Already, the 46-year-old company, which focuses on first-time home buyers, is the largest builder in Texas and California, according to Fortune magazine.

One year after its arrival, KB has 10 communities in the Tampa area, eight of them in southern Hillsborough County. Some of those include communities KB acquired when it purchased Orlando-based builder American Heritage.

Others are KB all the way, including Boyette Creek, where KB offers 12 floor plans, all named after their total square footage.

The 3475, featured here, includes four bedrooms, a den, loft, and two full bathrooms and sells for $194,990 with no upgrades.

The model home at Boyette Creek would sell for about $290,000. Additions include brick accents on the exterior; a garden tub with separate shower in the master bathroom and a tray ceiling in the master bedroom; a half-bath downstairs; ceramic tile in the kitchen and hallways; an electric fireplace in the family room; and a security system.

All of the four bedrooms are upstairs, with the master suite separated from the remaining three bedrooms by a loft and hallway. Three of the four bedrooms have walk-in closets, including a closet in the master suite that's the size of a small bedroom.

A large closet under the stairs provides additional storage.

Design options show the downstairs den and loft as fifth and sixth bedrooms.

When finished Boyette Creek will have 560 homes, with 259 built by KB. Maronda Homes is building the rest.

To get there, take Interstate 75 to exit 250. Head east 4.5 miles. Go right on Boyette Road. Boyette Creek is on the right.
