NFL

Today's games

Bucs (2-2) at Redskins (3-2)

By ROGER MILLS
Published October 12, 2003

The defending champions haven't lost back-to-back games since Jon Gruden came on board. Not likely to start now.

Mills pick: Bucs 21, Redskins 18

Dolphins (3-1) at Jaguars (1-4)

Byron Leftwich gets his second career start but will be challenged by a pretty good defense. Still, Leftwich/Jimmy Smith combination prevails.

Mills pick: Jaguars 24, Dolphins 23

Texans (2-2) at Titans (3-2)

They may have shocked the Dolphins and may have out-gritted the Jaguars. They won't be doing any such thing in Nashville.

Mills pick: Titans 30, Texans 10

Eagles (2-2) at Cowboys (3-1)

The Eagles have beaten the Cowboys six straight times, but these are different Cowboys. The NFL's top ranked offense keeps rolling?

Mills pick: Cowboys 17, Eagles 14

Panthers (4-0) at Colts (5-0)

One more unbeaten will fall. Can the Colts dismantle a second great defense in as many weeks? Yup!

Mills pick: Colts 20, Panthers 17

Chiefs (5-0) at Packers (3-2)

Return phenom Dante Hall may not run one back for a score this week, but the Chiefs still prevail because of depth and running game.

Mills pick: Chiefs 30, Packers 21

Bears (1-3) at Saints (1-4)

Boring. Boring. Boring. Saints win not because they're any good but because the Bears are that bad.

Mills pick: Saints 24, Bears 21

Raiders (2-3) at Browns (2-3)

The Raiders haven't played in Cleveland since 1985 which is nothing new considering they have been lost for weeks. Still, they get it right.

Mills pick: Raiders 27, Browns 24

Giants (2-2) at Patriots (3-2)

Neither team has been able to find consistency but you've got to give the Patriots a home field edge.

Mills pick: Patriots 17, Giants 10

Bills (3-2) at Jets (0-4)

The losing streak has to stop and the image of Chad Pennington throwing this week should set that in motion.

Mills pick: Jets 20, Bills 19

Ravens (2-2) at Cardinals (1-4)

Unless you believe they are as bad as the Bengals last year, Arizona has to win another game. True, but not against the Ravens.

Mills pick: Ravens 17, Cardinals 10

Steelers (2-3) at Broncos (4-1)

The crumbling Steelers aren't ready to lose their fourth in six games. After going 4-0, reality steps in for the Broncos.

Mills pick: Steelers 27, Broncos 20

49ers (2-3) at Seahawks (3-1)

Terrell Owens and Jeff Garcia may have patched things up, but Dennis Erickson's return to the Emerald City won't be fuzzy.

Mills pick: Seahawks 30, 49ers 17
