HUDSON - Bayonet Point could have topped its best season in the school's 21-year history in only one way.
The Patriots, who went 5-1 last fall for their third winning season, had to go unbeaten.
Tuesday's 26-0 defeat of Hudson clinched a perfect season, resulting in Bayonet Point's first Pasco County Middle School Athletic Conference title.
The Patriots, (5-0, a Sept. 2 rainout against Hudson will not be made up) won the West Division in the county's first season of split divisions. Centennial (4-0) leads the East and hosts Weightman on Tuesday.
"I knew we had some talent, but I never thought we would go undefeated," Bayonet Point coach Kent Reed said. "I knew we'd have a successful season with the athletes we had."
Reed also credited first-year assistants Brian Taylor (defensive coordinator) and Mike Smith (special teams) for the Patriots' success.
Defensive standouts included nose tackle Paul James and safety Shane Cox, who recovered a fumble.
Ben Perry paced Bayonet Point's offense with two touchdown runs and a 20-yard scoring pass from Charlie Minichino. Arron Jackson also ran for a touchdown and Allyn Williamson had a two-point conversion run.
In other games, Pasco beat Weightman 27-6; Gulf defeated River Ridge 19-12; Seven Springs shut out Chasco 21-0; and Pine View and Stewart were rained out.
Pasco's defense forced five turnovers in its defeat of defending co-champion Weightman. Defensive end Demetrious Larry recovered three fumbles and Nathan Hunter and Josh Johnson each had an interception.
Quarterback Dustin Brown ran for two touchdowns with Todd Bullard and Kenny Steele adding touchdown runs for the Pirates, who led 21-0 at halftime.
Kurt Holt had a hand in all three of Gulf's touchdowns. He passed to Julian Ford for one, returned an interception for another and scored on a quarterback bootleg.
Kyle Jackson and Eric Karcinski had touchdown runs for River Ridge.
Kevin Trapp ran for a touchdown, thew a scoring pass to Ian Beckett and returned a punt for a touchdown to lead Seven Springs. Brent Halenkamp added a conversion run.
Seven Springs had three interceptions, one each by Cody Brunelle, Ryan Garton and Beckett.
PURSUIT OF PERFECTION: The Land O'Lakes junior varsity team, unbeaten twice in coach Tim Stevens' 10 seasons, is two games shy of another perfect season.
The Gators improved to 6-0 after Thursday's 27-18 win over Gulf, which fell to 3-2 after a 3-0 start.
Devlin Robinson, Michael Torro and Lee Smith had touchdown runs for Land O'Lakes, and Brad Patton sacked Gulf quarterback Alton Voss in the end zone for a safety.
Voss ran for one touchdown and threw scoring passes to Chris Mazzio and Marcus Nesson to account for Gulf's scoring.
