No lovefest between Sherrill, Dunn

So what exactly did Mississippi State coach Jackie Sherrill say to Memphis coach Tommy West after Saturday's game that led to the two going nose to nose for several seconds at midfield?
Sherrill termed the brief but heated postgame exchange as "private between Tommy and I." But the conversation was recorded by a few Memphis TV stations.
Sherrill tells West, "You can tell Joe Lee I'm glad he circled that date," to which West quickly responds with a tirade. Sherrill then said, "It's not about you and me."
Sherrill's comments were directed toward Memphis defensive coordinator Joe Lee Dunn, who Sherrill fired last year after seven seasons with Mississippi State.
Dunn criticized Sherrill for the way he handled the dismissal and said he was hoping to exact some revenge by beating the Bulldogs. Mississippi State won 35-27 and Dunn's defense allowed 381 yards.
CENTRAL FLORIDA: Quarterback Ryan Schneider was back practicing in full pads this week, but the Golden Knights' on-field leader is again questionable for Saturday against Akron. Schneider has not played since injuring his right shoulder in a loss to Kent State on Sept. 27. Trainers have begun letting Schneider throw during practice, and while he has shown improvement, playing time is not a definite.
"Ryan is further along in his rehabilitation of the injury than what I expected," athletic trainer Darryl Conway said. "He is questionable for the Akron game and will be a game-time decision."
With Schneider out, Jon Rivera has taken over at quarterback and UCF has struggled. After a tough 19-10 win over winless Buffalo, UCF fell to MAC rival Ohio 28-0 last week, the first time since 1984 that UCF had been shutout. UCF was last shutout against Indiana State (38-0), 209 games ago.
Coach Mike Kruczek said Rivera and sophomore Brandon Sumner were splitting time with the first team this week and Saturday's starter would be a game-time decision.
DELAWARE STATE: Coach Ben Blacknall was fired and defensive coordinator Butch Posey named interim coach. The Hornets are 0-6 this season and 16-24 during Blacknall's four-year tenure.
EAST CAROLINA: Defensive back Antonie Nealy was suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, coach John Thompson said. The sophomore had started all six games at free safety for the Pirates (0-6) and had 35 tackles. Senior Richard Moton is expected to replace Nealy at Army on Saturday.
GEORGIA: Backup quarterback D.J. Shockley has a sore knee and will not play Saturday at Vanderbilt. Defensive lineman Kedric Golston is doubtful after hurting his shoulder in practice. Redshirt freshman Joe Tereshinski III will backup starting QB David Greene.
KENTUCKY: Jared Lorenzen has sufficiently recovered from a concussion and will start at quarterback Saturday against Ohio, coach Rich Brooks said. Lorenzen received a helmet-to-helmet hit from defensive end Moe Thompson in a 27-21 loss to South Carolina on Oct. 9. Brooks said starting tight end Win Gaffron likely will not play and could be out up to two weeks because of recurring back problems.
MIAMI: Running back Frank Gore will have surgery on his injured left knee this week or next, coach Larry Coker said. Gore, a sophomore who tore a ligament Oct. 2 against West Virginia, will miss all of spring practice.
MISSISSIPPI: Tests confirmed redshirt freshman Jamal Pittman tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Saturday's victory over Arkansas State. Pittman, one of four backs with more than 200 yards for Ole Miss, will miss the rest of the season.
TEXAS TECH: Quarterback B.J. Symons, the nation's leading passer, vowed he will be 100 percent Saturday at Oklahoma State despite twisting his knee last week. Symons said he "landed a little funny" after jumping to high five Wes Welker after a TD pass in Tech's 52-21 win over Iowa State. He returned on the next series after trainers placed a brace on it.
WASHINGTON STATE: Linebacker Will Derting, the Cougars' leading tackler, will not start Saturday at Stanford after being cited for driving under the influence. Derting was cited Oct. 4 and suspended from the team. He will be arraigned today, coach Bill Doba said. A decision on whether Derting plays will be made at game time. Derting, 20, has 37 tackles.
