School briefs: St. Patrick School's fall festival begins today

FAIROAKS/MANHATTAN MANOR - The 40th annual South Tampa's Fall Festival runs today through Sunday at St. Patrick Catholic festival grounds, 4518 S Manhattan Ave.
Local entertainment will perform under a 12,600-square-foot tent. Bobby Rich from WMTX-FM 100.7 (Mix) is hosting a game show from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and the Shamrock Shake-Up raffle will be on Sunday.
Food includes a breakfast Sunday at 9 a.m., seafood from Red Lobster and Italian sausage sandwiches. The festival will offer two-for-one ride specials from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and $15 armbands all day Sunday for more than 25 rides.
Hours are from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. today and Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free. All proceeds benefit St. Patrick School.
Dunbar Elementary appoints principal
OLD WEST TAMPA - The School Board appointed Sylvia Hornsby principal of Dunbar Elementary Magnet School effective Oct. 8. She replaced Marva Brown, who became the district's elementary generalist Sept. 10.
Hornsby has been working in Hillsborough County schools since 1969, when she began teaching at Ballast Point Elementary. She left to become principal at Edison Elementary and later principal at Bing Elementary School, her most recent position.
Dunbar focuses on mathematics, technology and science.
Columbus Celebration crowns 45th queen
DOWNTOWN - Jennalee Rowe, a junior at Plant High School, was crowned Queen Isabella on Oct. 4 by the Columbus Celebration at the Tampa Convention Center.
She will represent the club at events throughout the year, beginning with this week's traditional Columbus Day ceremony. The daughter of Vernon and Jeannie Rowe, she is the club's 45th queen.
