Pinellas sheriff's deputies and tactical officers surrounded a Lealman apartment for five hours Thursday after responding to reports of gunfire.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. at a building at 4621 40th St. N.
Neighbors saw two people go inside an apartment, then heard two bangs that sounded like gunshots, authorities said.
Deputies saw one person inside, who refused to come out. They were not certain what happened to the other person.
Deputies and tactical officers remained at the scene about midnight Thursday.
