BROOKSVILLE - A "Blessing of the Animals" will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Marine Corps League Detachment 708, 8405 Sunshine Grove Road. The event is a joint effort between the detachment and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Hernando County.

The Rev. James Wright of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima/St. Cajetan will officiate. Pet owners may bring their pets in to be blessed; those who have too many pets or whose pets are too large to bring can bring photographs of the pets to be blessed.

Pets are required to be on leashes or in crates. For information, call the SPCA at 596-7000.
