Pumpkin Flower

You will need:

1 4-inch pumpkin

1 block of floral foam

1/2 bunch yellow (or any color) mums

5-6 ferns

1 packet floral preservative

Getting started:

Step 1: Hollow the pumpkin.

Step 2: Cut floral foam to fit inside, but leave it extending a 1/2 inch above the rim. Soak foam in warm water that has floral preservative added to it.

Step 3: Use the fronds of the largest fern to fill in, and around, the foam base. Place the 2 medium-size fronds back to back.

Step 4: Place three buds at outermost points to form a triangle. Arrange the remaining buds in smaller groups of triangles.

Step 5: Fill in the angles.

Bunches of Bunches

You will need:

Wide-mouth container (approximately 8 inches in diameter)

18 stems white carnations

18 stems white iris

12 rubber bands

Floral clippers

Scissors

Floral preservative

Floral bowl tape 1/2-inch wide

Getting started:

Step 1: Make a grid of squares by first running four evenly spaced lines of floral bowl tape over the top of the container. Then run four lines of tape perpendicular to the first four strips.

Step 2: Fill the container with water that has been treated with the floral preservative.

Step 3: Cut all the flowers to approximately 7 inches long, then remove all the greenery from their stems.

Step 4: With three stems of the same kind of flower, arrange a small bouquet in your hand. Keep the heads of the flowers at the same height. Rubber band the bouquet together so the bands rest just under the flowers' blooms. Do this for all the flowers.

Six bunches of carnations and six bunches of irises should be created.

Step 5: Cut two bunches of carnations to approximately 51/2 inches long. Place these bunches in the center of the container. Cut the other four bunches of carnations to approximately 41/2 inches, then insert them at the quarters of the container.

Step 6: Fill in the gaps with the six bunches of irises.
