Dave Soutar of Bradenton would rather work full time and is exasperated he can't.
Soutar, a PBA and ABC Hall of Fame member, is concerned about the PBA's long-range plans for the senior tour, where he has won seven titles. "They (PBA) say they're looking at the long term, and I say the long term will find many of us senior players on the sidelines."
The PBA is concentrating on its national tour. Meanwhile, the senior tour may have 12 events on a limited schedule from May to August with a July hiatus.
Soutar is in the field this weekend at the PBA southern region tournament at Clearwater's Countryside Lanes. Other possible entries are Steve Neff, Guppy Troup and Pete Couture.
LIBERTY SOLD: Community Entertainment Centers of Madison, Wis., purchased Largo's Liberty Lanes last week from builder/owner Bob Hanna. The price was not released.
JV SHAKEUP Osceola's No.1 junior varsity squad jumped into first, and Pinellas Park fell to fourth as the Pinellas County High School League ended its ninth week of competition.
Palm Harbor leads the girls scratch division with a 154-35 mark, and Largo heads the handicap competition with a 128-61 record. Northeast took over the boys scratch lead with a 135-54. Tarpon Springs held its handicap lead at 120-69.
The league is at Sunrise and Sunshine Bowl on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.
