BOULDER, Colo. - Jason White threw three touchdowns, including a 59-yarder to Mark Clayton with 1:59 left, as Oklahoma survived a scare to beat Colorado 34-20 on Saturday.
The Sooners built a 27-7 third-quarter lead before Colorado closed to 27-20 with two touchdowns in the fourth. Facing third and 6 from their 41 with 2:13 left, White hit Clayton along the left sideline, and the receiver cut back and outraced the Colorado secondary for the clinching score.
Colorado, smothered for most of the second and third quarters, had a fake punt and fake field goal on a 76-yard scoring drive early in the fourth. Brian Calhoun capped the drive, turning a short pass into a 21-yard touchdown with 11:41 left.
The Buffaloes then went 61 yards in nine plays, with Joel Klatt passing 9 yards to Derek McCoy for the score with 5:03 left. Mason Crosby's extra point was blocked, and White and Clayton hooked up five plays later.
MISSOURI 62, TEXAS TECH 31: Quarterback Brad Smith ran for 291 yards and a school-record five touchdowns for the host Tigers. His last three touchdowns came during the fourth quarter as Missouri pulled away after its lead was reduced to 10 twice.
The Red Raiders' B.J. Symons, who was averaging 500.9 yards passing, went 40-for-62 for 408 yards and four touchdowns but threw three interceptions.
Smith's rushing total is the second highest in school history, trailing only Devin West (319 in 1998), and he needed only 19 carries to do it. Northern Illinois' Stacey Robinson holds the record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 308 in 1990.
Smith scored on runs of 10, 27, 2, 41 and 61 yards and added 128 yards passing, going 13-for-24.
NEBRASKA 28, IOWA ST. 0: Josh Bullocks blocked a punt to set up a touchdown and returned a blocked punt for a score for the host Cornhuskers. The victory avenged a 36-14 loss last season in Ames and assured Nebraska its 42nd winning season in 43 years.
Jammal Lord put the Huskers up 7-0 when he ran in from the 1. It came seven plays after Bullocks blocked Tony Yelk's punt deep in Iowa State territory.
Lord broke a 31-yard run on the Huskers' next series before receiver Isaiah Fluellen scored on a 39-yard reverse. It became 21-0 late in the first quarter when Demorrio Williams blocked a punt and Bullocks ran it back 26 yards.
OKLAHOMA ST. 38, TEXAS A&M 10: Tatum Bell ran for 196 yards and three touchdowns for the visiting Cowboys, who won their first game at Kyle Field since 1983.
Bell's 40-yard run on fourth down in the first quarter made it 14-0. The Aggies had a chance to rebound in the second quarter when Scott Stickane recovered a fumble at the Cowboys 27. But on the next play, Darrent Williams intercepted Reggie McNeal's pass. Josh Fields hit Rashaun Woods with a 34-yard pass over the middle to set up Bell's 1-yard dive and a 21-0 halftime lead.
TEXAS 56, BAYLOR 0: Quarterback Vince Young ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns for the visiting Longhorns, who led 35-0 at halftime. Young scored touchdowns of 1 and 2 yards. His second came when he rolled right, backtracked to his left and split two defenders at the goal line.
KANSAS ST. 42, KANSAS 6: Darren Sproles rushed for 98 yards and returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown for the host Wildcats.
Kansas State led only 7-3 at the end of the first quarter when Kansas quarterback Bill Whittemore left with a shoulder injury. Backup Brian Luke fumbled the exchange on the first play. Ell Roberson hit Davin Dennis with a 20-yard touchdown on the next play.
Sproles' 63-yard punt return made it 28-3 at halftime.
