TAMPA - Joe Jurevicius and John Lynch have seats reserved on the first bus to Raymond James Stadium on Sunday for a pregame workout. But it's looking as if they will sit out the game against the Saints as well.
"We're going to have a big bus full of players go over to the stadium early," coach Jon Gruden said.
"We'll take them to the stadium and we'll run them around to see how they are on Sunday. But they're still (doubtful), limited in their usage. We'll hold out our final judgment until Sunday."
Receiver Jurevicius, who returned to practice this week for the first time since tearing the medial collateral ligament in his right knee against Carolina, was limited in Friday's workout. Safety Lynch, who missed Sunday's 16-0 win over the Cowboys with a damaged nerve in his left shoulder, is regaining strength in that arm. "Jurevicius is a strange bird," Gruden said. "He's capable of making incredible things happen in very short periods of time. Again, we'd like to see him come out here and be a more focal point of the offense to confirm exactly where he is, but the man is rehabbing a knee that has taken some time, and we won't know for sure until Sunday."
The news is better for backup quarterback Shaun King, who had good mobility Friday despite an ankle sprain.
"He took a fair amount of snaps today and I was pleased with how we finished practice with him at quarterback," Gruden said. "He moved around good and I'm confident that he's close to regaining his tip-top form."
Safety John Howell and defensive back Hank Poteat have hamstring strains.
TRAIN REPAIR: Fullback Mike Alstott is scheduled for surgery Monday in Pittsburgh to repair a herniated disc in his neck. Alstott was placed on injured reserve after experiencing some lack of feeling in his arms and legs against the Colts.
HEEEEERE'S CHUCKY: Gruden was ready to experience some boos Friday as he planned to take to the streets for Halloween.
"I'll take my act out on the road and will be a trick-or-treater," Gruden said. "I'm going to be wearing a mask, for sure. I've got a couple fans in the neighborhood that haven't quite bought into the Buccaneer program. So I'm going to be low-key, man.
"My favorite costume was Batman. I loved Batman growing up. I was Batman for about seven years and I can't get my boys interested in Batman, but ol' Boy Wonder could be out there tonight."
