Deadline looms for student registration

By Times Staff Writer
Published November 1, 2003

Time is running out for Pinellas County parents to register children who will be new to the school district in 2004-05 or to choose schools for incoming kindergarteners, sixth- and ninth-graders.

The two Family Education and Information Centers - 3420 Eighth Ave. S in St. Petersburg and 1101 Marshall St. in Clearwater - will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m today. Because the application deadline falls on the weekend, parents can complete paperwork until 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Applications postmarked by midnight Monday will be accepted, but district officials would prefer that parents come in person so a school district employee can go over their applications with them. Parents who want to apply to a career academy, magnet or fundamental school can do so until 5 p.m. today by calling the district's automated phone system: 501-0871.
