Lay another one on Gramatica

The defense played well despite the fact that half of the starters were out. The offense, well, six turnovers says it all. Once again this year it is the kicker who cost us another game. The earlier chip-shot field goal that was missed would have tied the score. The Buccaneers need to start shopping for a kicker.

-- Bob Gilley, Tampa

Who or how is it decided what color uniforms the Bucs will wear for each game? I would have thought the Bucs would have worn their white uniforms and the Saints their black. This would have given us some advantage with the temperature in the high 80s.

The Oakland Raiders are hopeless.

The Tampa Bay Bucs are terminally mediocre.

And neither team looks like it will get anywhere near the Super Bowl, just another example of the inconsistency and often horrible play in the NFL this season. Kansas City, Indianapolis, Tennessee and a few other teams are the exceptions.

At least the Bucs have a shot, even after losing 17-14 to New Orleans - at home, no less.

With Carolina inexplicably losing to Houston and journeyman quarterback Tony Banks, the Bucs stayed two games behind the Panthers in the NFC South at the midway point.

Tampa plays Sunday in Charlotte. If the Bucs maintain the pattern they've had since opening day, they will be only a game back: They've won one, then lost one for eight straight games.
