ZEPHYRHILLS - A 75-year-old Zephyrhills man who was trying to retrieve things from his truck after an accident early Sunday was struck and killed by another vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened about 6:17 a.m. at Chancey Road and Autumn Palm Drive, 1 mile south of Zephyrhills.

An FHP news release said Floyd F. Underwood was in the eastbound lane of Chancey Road, removing items from his truck, when a pickup driven by Floyd Riley of Virginia hit him. Riley didn't see Underwood, the release said. Riley was not injured.
