Xpress, the Coolest Section of the St. Petersburg Times, is the home for features, news and views of interest to young readers. Most of the work in Xpress, which appears on Mondays in Floridian, is produced by the Times' X-Team. The team of journalists ages 9-17 from around the Tampa Bay area is selected every year at the end of the school year to serve during the following school term. The current team of 12 was chosen out of 150 applicants. Watch for X-Team application forms in Xpress during the month of May.

Everyone has a story, it's true. Be a part of the national Legacy Project, a movement to tell and record the stories of loved ones. And, the best part? There's a contest called "Listen to a Life," open to participants ages 8 to 18. Interview your grandparent or a "grandfriend," and write a 300-word story based on the most memorable moment of his or her life. The winning prize is a cedar chest containing an IBM ThinkCentre computer. Deadline for entries is Friday, so hop to it! Star Wars' gets animated
Leave it to the folks who bring you Dexter's Laboratory to put a cartoon spin on the Star Wars saga. Starting Friday, the Cartoon Network will begin airing Star Wars: Clone Wars, 20 animated shorts that pick up where the live-action Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones left off - at the beginning of the Clone Wars. The first 10 chapters will debut each night at 8 before new episodes of Cartoon Network series. The next 10 episodes will debut in spring 2004. Genndy Tartakovsky, the mind behind Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack, is leading the team at the network in conjunction with Lucasfilm Ltd. Look for all your favorite Star Wars characters, including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, R2-D2 and C-3PO.
