Not feeling very peppy? Introspective rock fans should check out A Perfect Circle at the University of South Florida Sun Dome tonight. The five-member band is fronted on the side by lead singer of the rock band Tool, Maynard James Keenan. A Perfect Circle's Gothic-flavored music is dark and artistic. The band is currently on tour promoting its latest album, Thirteenth Step. The concert starts at 8 p.m., 4202 E Fowler Ave. Tickets are $28.50, available through Ticketmaster or the Sun Dome box office. Call 974-3002.

VillageFest

Cool weather keeps coming and going, and Carrollwood Village hopes to give fall a push in the right direction. Saturday's VillageFest 2003 is about all things autumn, featuring hay bales, scarecrows, artists and crafters. Music acts will include Miss Charlotte's Suzuki Strings, Mariachi Vallarta, Radio Dolls and Hamilton Harris Project. Food tastings from restaurants including Macaroni Grill, Tijuana Flats, Tanya & Matt's Ice Cream and Smoothie King start at $1. Beer and wine will be on hand from Sterling Vintners and the Dunedin Brewery. Tables and chairs will be set up. Bring the kids, but leave pets at home.

VillageFest 2003 is from noon to 5 p.m. at 13420 S Village Drive. Admission is free and parking is available for $5 in the nearby soccer fields. Call 948-9858.

Bat Boy at USF

The Bat Boy sensation is sweeping the local theater scene. Bat Boy: The Musical was performed last month at Blake School of the Arts and is now flapping through the University of South Florida. The show chronicles the life and times of a half-bat, half-boy found in a cave near Hope Falls, W.Va. Based on stories from the Weekly World News supermarket tabloid, Bat Boy is just looking for love.

The show is at 8 p.m. tonight, Saturday, and Wednesday through Nov. 15, and 3 p.m. Sunday at USF Theatre 1, 4202 E Fowler Ave. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Group rates are available. Call 974-2323.

Goddess workshop

What girl doesn't want to be a goddess? Author and makeup artist Catherine Wishart will present a workshop Saturday to instruct girls on how to look and feel like a goddess in less than an hour. In the class based on Wishart's book, Teen Goddess: How to Look, Love & Live Like a Goddess, girls will learn how to build self esteem, enchant others, apply makeup, beautify energy and act like a goddess in real life. Wishart has been giving goddess workshops for more than 10 years and will sign her book at the event.

The workshop is at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Carrollwood, 11802 N Dale Mabry Highway. Admission is free. Call 962-6446.
