Bucs-Packers matchup ...

QB Brett Favre vs. DT Warren Sapp.

By JOANNE KORTH
Published November 16, 2003

Is it possible to be playful adversaries? That seems to describe the relationship between Packers quarterback Brett Favre and Bucs defensive tackle Warren Sapp, whose backfield confrontations usually lead to verbal sparring, smiles and helmet slaps.

"I think he has more fun than I do," Favre said.

Sapp has had some of his best performances against Green Bay, with 50 tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during the regular season.

Favre, who is playing with a broken right thumb, has started 199 consecutive games, an NFL record at quarterback. He relishes playing against "one of the best defenses I have ever faced" in Tampa Bay but is 0-5 in his past five at Raymond James Stadium with five touchdowns and nine interceptions.
