TALLAHASSEE - Florida State officials are looking into whether 6-10 forward Diego Romero, a junior college transfer from Lon Morris (Texas) who is a key member of the nation's top-ranked recruiting class, played professionally in his native Argentina.

"We're in constant contact with the NCAA and we're trying to bring it a resolution as quickly as we can," FSU compliance director Bob Minnix said. "We don't have all the information we need at this point."

FSU opens Friday against Maine.

As expected, FSU received a signed letter of intent from shooting guard Jason Rich out of Orlando Dr. Phillips. A letter from another standout, point guard Isaiah Swann (Hargrave Military Academy), should arrive in the next couple of days.

USF: The women's team plays its final preseason game against the Miami Sun AAU team at 2 p.m. today at the Sun Dome.
