Missing 'n' leads to man's arrest

CLEARWATER - A man who police say stole about $18,000 has been arrested with a little help from the alphabet.

Clearwater police said Timothy McCory, 44, stole the money while working as a temporary worker for Able Body Temporary Services, 1450 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.

From July to November 2000, McCory turned in work orders to Able Body indicating he had worked for Gulf Aluminum. He was paid a total of $17,668, arrest records show.

Police later learned that McCory had forged the signature of a Gulf Aluminum official, Robert Bennett, on the work order, reports state.

A telling sign: Bennett's named was misspelled on the work orders as Benett.

McCory, who had by this time been fired by the company, moved out of state. But he later was arrested in Maryland and extradited to Florida last week.
