Fire damages meat market

By Times Staff Writer

HOLIDAY - A small fire damaged a meat market at the corner of Grand Boulevard and Moog Road before firefighters put it out Monday evening. Pasco County Fire Rescue responded at 5:32 p.m. to Meatland's City of Meats at 3446 Grand Blvd. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming through the roof. The market was closed at the time and the fire was put out quickly. Assistant Fire Chief Chris Alland said the cause of the fire was traced to ashes left in a garbage can, and the flames spread up into the attic. A business next door, Foodland Mini-Mart, had minor smoke damage. Alland estimated the total damage from the fire at $10,000 to $12,000.
