Ex-newspaper employee accused of grand theft

TAMPA - A former employee of the Tampa Tribune was arrested Monday on charges of stealing $10,000 from the newspaper.

Joenathan Jones Jr., 25, of 401 Harbor Place, a promotions and special projects coordinator at the Tribune, was accused of grand theft and scheming to defraud, said Tampa police Detective Bill Todd.

The newspaper was running a sales incentive program. Jones would go to the office, get cash to pay the incentives, then keep the money instead of giving it to other employees, Todd said.

The theft took place over five months, Todd said.

Jones is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bail.
