16-year-old driving van strikes, kills bicyclist

TAMPA - A bicyclist was killed Tuesday morning after he was struck by a van driven by a 16-year-old, authorities said. Jerry K. Hurley, 44, of 5014 Habersham Lane was biking south on U.S. 41 about 5:50 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said. Chad Thompson of 10806 Capstan Lake Drive in Riverview was driving north on U.S. 41 in a van when he struck Hurley, troopers said. The investigation is continuing.
