HUNTSVILLE, Texas - A man convicted of beating and stabbing an elderly woman and her daughter to death in 1993 was executed Thursday night.

Robert Henry was executed by injection in the slayings of 83-year-old Hazel Rumohr, and her 57-year-old daughter, Carol Arnold, at their home near Corpus Christi.

Henry, an acquaintance of the family, confessed to the killings but subsequently denied involvement.

He was convicted in 1994.

"I kind of got suckered through the whole system," he said in an interview last week. "I'm getting a bum rap. You can't avoid it. . . . I'm stuck."

Last month, the Supreme Court refused to review his case.
