The Cowboys (7-3) are rebuilding the smart way, through defense. After 10 games, the Cowboys are bidding to become the second team, since the NFL went to a 16-game season in 1978, to finish first in the three major defensive categories: total yards, rushing yards and passing yards allowed. Currently, the Cowboys are first in total yards (237.9), second in rushing (83.1) and first in passing yards allowed (154.8). The 1991 Eagles (10-6) were the other team with NFL best marks of 221.8, 71.0 and 150.8 yards respectively.
