FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - Michael Vick will be in uniform for the first time this season Sunday, as the Falcons' backup quarterback at Houston.
The Pro Bowl QB, sidelined since breaking his right leg in the preseason, practiced for the second straight day Thursday.
During a two-hour workout, Vick rolled out on pass plays after working exclusively in the pocket Wednesday. He stopped, started and took cuts.
"It felt pretty good," Vick said. "I am making progress."
"He was able to move around and scramble," coach Dan Reeves said. "I was surprised by how well he looked, especially compared to where he was last week."
The team has a two-hour workout scheduled this morning.
"I've still been in the film room and paying attention to the game plans," Vick said. "I didn't lose sight of what got me to where I am now in the passing game. The passing game really isn't a problem right now. Making the reads and everything, I'm comfortable with, so that's why I look pretty sharp."
Doug Johnson will start.
BILLS: Quarterback Drew Bledsoe has headaches and nausea after a mild concussion, but is listed as probable against the Giants. Bledsoe, who was kneed in the back of the helmet Sunday against the Colts, plans to practice today.
COLTS: Quarterback Peyton Manning is expected to play Sunday against New England after an MRI on his right elbow revealed no damage. Doctors still advised Manning not to throw during Thursday's practice, a day after Manning said he felt a "twinge" in the elbow on his throwing arm. Coach Tony Dungy said he expected Manning to throw today, and he is listed as probable.
49ERS: Quarterback Jeff Garcia will start against the Ravens on Sunday after missing three games with a high ankle sprain.
JAGUARS: Linebacker Keith Mitchell was waived, halting the comeback hopes after he briefly lost feeling in his extremities in a game two months ago. Mitchell came back and played two games, but had been inactive in five of the past six games. Safety Ray Perryman took his spot on the roster.
REDSKINS: With Patrick Ramsey in a cast, quarterback Tim Hasselbeck appears likely to make his first NFL start Sunday against the Saints. Ramsey is doubtful after a flare-up from a fracture in his right foot. A walking cast has replaced a protective boot he wore last week.
