Here's another avenue for you to get rid of your potentially useful yet unwanted junk in a responsible manner. It doesn't have to be electronics, even an old couch will do. The site is a front end to a bunch of Yahoo groups, but it's still a good idea. I couldn't find a Tampa Bay area group at the time of writing, but there's nothing to stop some responsible individual from starting one.
This might just be the most insanely wonderful site of the year. It takes a phrase of your choice and then forms what you've typed into a song. The kicker is that you can then e-mail the thing to somebody. It's currently missing the word "marry," so, alas, you'll just have to pop the question yourself.
I love this site. It's rough, badly laid out but thoroughly addictive. It lives true to its name and nitpicks continuity, factual and other errors that crop up in all manner of films. The latest Matrix film seems to be the favorite right now, and the site is buzzing with comments from people who clearly need help or at least a good night out on the town.
Feeling down? Have a birthday on the horizon? Well, have I got a downer for you. Click over to this site and, just for the fun of it, pop in your age to find out what some others accomplished at the same age. If that doesn't make you feel bad enough, try an age that's 10 years younger than your next birthday. If you've got enough years to play with and aren't depressed enough, see if you can subtract 15 or 20 years from your age for the true experience that is inadequacy. The world has been graced with youthful overachievers, and chances are, none of them is you.
One of the key reasons for shedding my old 15-inch titanium PowerBook was the screen touched the keyboard when the lid was closed. It left grease marks on the screen. Plus I wanted a new computer and it made it easier to justify it. Imagine my horror to find out my new 17-inch PowerBook does the same darn thing. So, it is Other World Computing to the rescue with an $18 stretch of swanky black leather that covers the keyboard and keeps the screen free of damaging greasy marks. It's money well spent, and your PowerBook or iBook of any size would benefit, too.
