Things that make you go hmmm ...

- In the past decade, being .500 or worse this late in the season hasn't meant total doom. In fact, 16 teams with a record of .500 or worse qualified for the playoffs, including last season's Browns, Jets and Giants, all of whom were 6-6.

- The Lions (4-8) have lost two fumbles this season and given up only 10 sacks, both the lowest in the NFL.

- Talk about a lopsided division. The Colts and/or the Titans have led the division for all 30 weeks of the AFC South's history.

- Running backs Jamal Lewis (Ravens), Deuce McAllister (Saints) and Ahman Green (Packers) each are on pace to rush for 1,880 yards. Only once have two backs rushed for at least 1,800 yards in one season: the Broncos' Terrell Davis (2,008) and the Falcons' Jamal Anderson (1,846) in 1998.

- Now you know why he can talk smack about quarterback Peyton Manning in the offseason. Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt has hit 32 consecutive field goals, including 28 this season. He needs eight more to tie Gary Anderson's NFL record.
